Building Health Equity: Support and Resources for All

Empowering Wellness…Bridging Disparities.

Struggling with your identity? Facing challenges after incarceration?

The Institute of Wholistic Behavior (IWB) empowers LGBTQIA+ individuals and those re-entering society after incarceration to heal from trauma and build resilience. We recognize the disproportionate impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) on these marginalized communities. Through comprehensive trauma-informed services, IWB fosters a safe and affirming environment where LGBTQIA+ youth and adults can explore identity, navigate re-entry challenges, and thrive.

How We Can Help

Social & Emotional Skill Building

We understand the unique challenges faced by individuals with LGBTQIA+ identities. We are dedicated to fostering their social and emotional well-being through a comprehensive program that combines individualized counseling and supportive group sessions.

The Impact of IWB:

Our program is designed to empower individuals to heal from past experiences and build a brighter future.

Here's how we help:

  • Increased resilience and ability to cope with challenges.

  • Improved self-esteem and a stronger sense of self-worth.

  • Enhanced social skills and ability to enhance communication skills and build healthy relationships.

  • Reduced symptoms of trauma such as anxiety or depression.

  • Greater self-confidence and a sense of empowerment.

Case Management

We understand the impact of trauma on individuals and its effect on social and emotional well-being. Our trauma-informed case management program provides a path to healing and growth.

Our program utilizes a compassionate approach that acknowledges the impact of past experiences.

Our case managers are specially trained to:

  • Understand the impact of trauma including experiences related to identity, bullying, or discrimination.

  • Create a safe and supportive space where you feel comfortable sharing your story.

  • Develop a personalized plan to address your unique needs and goals.

  • Connect you with resources such as mental health services, substance abuse treatment, educational support resources, employment resources and other support services needed for a smooth transition back to the community.

“Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health is the most shocking and the most inhumane.”
